$20 fee covers all tryout dates * Girls whose teams are still participating in CIF playoff are encouraged to attend but may not participate.

900sqft VBC will be holding tryouts for its girls 14,13, and 12 and under teams.

Oct 3rd 4-6pm, Oct 6th 6-8pm, Oct 10th 4-6pm, Oct 13th 6-8pm
Make up dates - Oct 17th 4-6pm, Oct 20th 6-8pm and Oct 24th 4-6pm

Tryouts are free for all paid fall clinic participants.  For all others there is a $20 fee which covers any 2 dates.

900sqft 15 Group and 17s competeing in JO Qualifier this Fri,Sat,and Sun

Team Rudy, Team Mary and Team Lance will all be competing in Anaheim this weekend in the USVBA Junior Olympic Qualifying Tournament.  Best of luck!!

900sqft 14s continue unbeaten ways!!!

The 900sqft 14 - Bri squad ran their record to 6-0 last Sunday.  They entered pool play seeded #2 and swept through the pool going 3-0 upseting the #1 team in 3 games right before the Super Bowl kick-off.  The girls should make a nice jump in the SCVA rankings.

15 Group a sweeping success in qualifier #2

Team Rudy and Team Mary went 3-0 this past Saturday in the second qualifier for both teams. All six matches were 2-0 sweeps for both teams. Great job girls. I see two Gold Division teams with the 15 Group.

Volleyball is the second most popular sport in the world today, exceeded only by soccer. It was invented by William G. Morgan in 1895 at a YMCA in Holyoke, Mass. for middle aged men who needed something less strenuous than basketball. The sport has changed much over the years and Mr. Morgan would probably not recognize the game today.

1/23 and 1/24 2010 Tourney Results

Our 900sqft 14 Group headed up by new 900sqft Coach Brie Crosby swept through their pool on 1/23 at the American Sports Center. The 14s did not drop a match going 3-0. Our 13 girls did not fair as well but are playing hard. They are making a jump up to higher nets, a heavier ball and are lumped into a division that includes 14 year old as well as 13 year olds. The 14's went 0-3 but look for big things from this group in the future.

On Sunday 1/24 Paula Austins 900sqft Black "guppies" went 3-0 for their second straight tournament. This group is really fun to watch. Trey's Orange 'guppies" went 1-2 and are beginning to understand the game and play with a lot of enthusiasm. Our 17 "donkeys" picked up their first wins on the young season going 2-1 in their second qualifier after going 0-3 in the first qualifying tourney.

900sqft hires new coach- Stephanie Darnall

Former 1st Team All CIF Standout at Laguna Beach High School Stephanie Darnall has agreed to join the coaching staff at 900sqft. Stephanie just completed her college career at Concordia University in Irvine and had 3 stellar years at San Diego State. Stephanie will be assisting Lance with the 17 team and heading up our soon to be formed 12 White team.

15 Group completes 1st Qualifier

The 900sqft 15 Group completed there initial qualifying tourney this past weekend with great results. The squad headede by coach Mary Luhrs went 3-0 led by the consistent setting of Gigi Morally and Katie Napier and solid offensive out put from Seneca Jakosky and Marissa Greenough. Rudy Dvorak's team went 1-2 in and extremely tough gold division pool. The squad had the T Street 15-1 group on the ropes and let them off and played perennial power and rival Laguna Beach VBC vetry tough for this early in the year. Rudy's team finished of Solana Beach in the final match of the day. Brooke Reid had a solid tourney on the leftside.

17 Team slated to travel to Las Vegas

The 900sqft VBC 17 Team will be making the Clubs First trip to the Las Vegas Tourney sponsored by the SCVA in February. This Tournament is a huge opportunity for our girls to be seen by college coaches from all levels from all over the country. Last year over 300 college coaches were at the Tournament. Competition will take place Feb 13,14 and 15th. This will be an annual trip for our 17 and 18 age group teams.

Sunday Clinic Schedule almost complete!!

900sqft will be hosting Sunday Clinics for players not on our club teams. These clinics will run from endof January through mid June. Schedule will be finished next week.

900sqft is looking for more 4th 5th and 6th grade girls!

900sqft VBC is hoping to put together another team of 4th, 5th and 6th Graders for the "spring season" If you know anybody interested, have them send an email to lb90osqft@yahoo.com.

15's Scrimmage Tustin Volleyball Club

Today at Duuger Gymnasium our 15 Group scrimmaged the 15 Group from Tustin VBC. Tustin VBC is owned and directed by former Laguna Beach CIF Champion Karen Roberts(Lynch) and her husband Mark Roberts (Miira Costa and UCSB standout). Mixing and matching the lineups the gals from 900sqft played extremely well and are showing great promise. The 15 Group will be playing there first qualifying tourney next week. Keep up the hard work!!

15's coach Rudy Dvorak was a two time CIF Champion at Laguna Beach HS and earned $152,366 on the AVP and FIVB Beach Tours from 1985-1992(He was defeated though by Lance Stewart at the Del Taco Open in 1989). Rudy Graduated from USC.

Did you know...............................?

The prize money payout for the Laguna Open in 1980 was $5,000.00

Qualifer Tournaments Day 1 the Sunday 1/10 for 12 "Guppies" and 17 "Donkeys"

Our 12 Year old "guppies" will be participating this weekend at the American Sports Center in Anaheim. The Sports Center is the Training home for both our Men's and Women's National Teams. The 17 Girls squad will be playing at The Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club Training Center and has drawn the #3 seed OCVBC Roxy in their initial pool play contest for 2010.
